Hoj House

Hoj House is an extension and refurbishment of a four storey townhouse in Stoke Newington, Hackney, London.

Studio Merlin created a Scandinavian-inspired, minimal-feeling ‘room in the garden’ for focussed dining. The project concept was for a light-touch refurbishment to the existing property, whilst wrapping a new contrasting extension in greenery though the inclusion of a wildflower roof and external bio planter. The remodelled lower ground floor links the property front to back, with finishes blurring the lines between inside and out, and the use of organic elements and materials to embed a natural lifestyle directly into the building fabric.
